Yuxiang "Andy" Liu

PhD Student

Andy is currently a fifth year PhD student. His research is focused on understanding how noradrenergic inputs to the PFC and forebrain modulate the animal's inhibitory control (a key executive function). He records the populations activity of neurons and neurotransmitter dynamics in the PFC as an animal urges impulsive decisions. He aims at developing a better understanding of neural representations that encode animal's decision-making and learning, as well as how they can be enhanced. He is also passionate about interpretable machine learning methods, and medical applications in the field. His previous research experience at Peking University focused on human-computer interfaces. He joined the lab in 2019 as an M.S. student.
